Wasting time on the edge of town. Nothing seems to have much meaning anymore. He turns his head, toward the smoky door. And a feeling starts coming over him. People change, people walk away. Yet the places stay the same velocity. Holding out, something’s in the way. Words can’t change the thing he wanted most to say. Hey. Do you need sometime? Do you wander through you life? Are you leaving out your pride? The settings change. The feeling goes away. And no one takes away from him the things he owns. But who’s to say that he won’t have his share? There’s no loss in leaving everything at home. The places change, the feeling stays, no use to walk away. If he won’t go, the things he knows begin to fade away.
